Saying No To Change

Lesson 4

Today we close in on God’s ‘mailman’ Jonah, who eventually spoke the word as directed and created one of the greatest recorded revival. We come upon Jonah, sitting under a tree in ‘relapse’ mode waiting for God to wipe out the Ninevites. How many times we have been in this similar position like Jonah? God rescues us from the pit of hell, when life became unmanageable, we momentarily surrendered to ease the pain, and now it is gone, we revert to our previous condition. The good news (the gospel) is that God is not finished. God does not give up.

For those of us who ran away like the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-23 and walk away from God; He is right where we left Him. Like Jonah, we regret the decision that we made to do a good thing-to do the next right thing. We relapse simply because there was no genuine change of heart. And in dog-like manner, we return to where we were previously eating our vomit; our own mess. This is clearly stated in Proverbs 26:11, “As a dog eats its own vomit, so fools recycle silliness.”

Without a change of heart we will continually fail life’s test and take it over, and over, and over again, until we get a passing score. A changed heart promises a new perspective that will only offer us the freedom from the pain that we seek. More on a changed heart in a future blog. Ready to change and start a new life? You think about it!

Remember, ‘nothing changes if nothing changes’ and ‘the same person will always use’.

Good evening!

Have a Blessed day in the Lord. You deserve it.
