Grateful For Today's Grace

With 7.7 billion people in the world, 151, 600 dying each day, and 6,316 dying each hour, we should be grateful for today’s grace that has kept us alive. Are you grateful for being alive today? Are we grateful that we woke up today despite our shortcomings? As we reflect on our past, we should all be grateful that we are still on this side of the grave. We have been given another opportunity to make things right. We should all be grateful for today’s grace. Almost a quarter million people did not make it today. What a blessing to be alive!

As we diligently seek to reclaim our lives from whatever path we are on, gratitude should regain its rightful place in our daily lives. In our life’s trials we tend to focus on all that we don’t have; but what about the things that we have? Life! For Floridians, we are grateful that we were spared the wrath of Hurricane Dorian, as we pray for our brothers and sisters in Bahamas who were not so fortunate.

Please allow me to be more specific with regards to addiction. Statistically, on a daily basis 15 people die in Florida, 25 in New York and DC, and in Ohio it recently jumped from 25 to 30; all from overdose. Keep in mind in other non-metropolitan cities the numbers are much higher. With those scary numbers, those in battle of their lives fighting against addiction, there is a lot to be grateful for today.

So let’s examine this word ‘grace’. Grace is unmerited favor; receiving what we don’t deserve. And we receive it daily. As we reflect (not dwell) on our daily lives on the past and the present, we can safely say if it was not for grace we would have been out of here. We all know what we have done, and have the opportunity to daily thank God for His grace.

In Ephesians 2:8-9 the Apostle Paul states, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” With this truth, we have to be mindful that out works does not give us grace; it is our faith. Faith in who? Faith in what? Begs the question. I will attempt to explore in a future blog.

However, as we travail our various paths of life today, let us all remember that grace and grace only can be thanked for the opportunity to live another day, despite whatever our circumstances; and we can make it right today. Of course, there are many others things to be grateful for. But without life, everything else becomes miniscule… insignificant.

As we throw our pity parties about what we don’t have today, let us all remember due to grace in spite of everything we still have life. Are you truly grateful for today’s grace? You think about it!

Good morning!

Remember, ‘nothing changes if nothing changes’ and ‘the same person will always use.’

Have a Blessed day in the Lord. You deserve it!
