'Pinch yourself'

“How great thou art!”  What a saying in these turbulent times.  Social media has transformed everyone’s life in every way imaginable.  And with the speed with which we are going as a society, very soon God the only creator of life will step in to take back His kingdom.  As I reminisced this morning after my early morning daily devotion with the Lord, I thought about the times when clothes were washed with the scrubbing board, the clothes rubbed together, then ended up on the clotheslines or windowsills, and not a washer and dryer.  I thought about the children being comforted by the warm embrace of a human being and not a gadget.  I thought about heating food on the stove and not a microwave.  I thought about natural discipline and self-respect, especially in the presence of elders, refraining from swearing with expletives as a sailor.  I thought about going to the library, reading, and becoming very good friends with the librarian who knew you by name.  I thought of the family meal around the table at home.  I thought of heading to worship even if I did not want to.  I thought of the desire for knowledge and wisdom to be a citizen of worth.

As a philosopher, I thought of many things today.  I concluded that today the creator of life is not pleased with our performance.  What is right we are labeling as wrong and what is wrong, we are labeling as right.  The universe is on a disastrous track.  And unless we come to ourselves, speak the truth to ourselves and others, and realize that we cannot do life on our own, as we please, God will do what He says He will do.  His promises are real, and no matter what else you believe, now is the time to seek Him. Everything that is in this world was created by Him and for Him, and unless we submit to His will in our lives, we are destined to self-destruction.  I just thought of that Trinbagonian saying, ‘Pinch yourself’.
