It is finished

It is finished! These are the last words of Jesus Christ before he gave up the spirit and tore the veil which once separated us from God giving us free access to God through his death. And I believe that it is also words of encouragement for those who believe today. The significance of these words shakes the foundation of our everyday life experiences and challenges. Looking around the globe, the finished work of Christ should resonate in our hearts during these perilous times.

The Apostle Paul gives us the antidote in Philippians 4:6-7 where he states, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” In order to attain this peace there must be a strong belief that “It is finished! There are things that the average person and Believers ‘worry’ about that cannot be changed. This is captured in the Serenity Prayer-God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Therefore, the question for those who believe should be, “Why am I worried when Jesus said it is finished?” Jesus took care of everything thereby making the statement, “It is finished.” Whatever is going on in your life right now, the financial challenges, the health issues, the relationship issues, the work issue, the impending jail issue etc. have been already resolved if you believe. God always has an escape hatch…His son Jesus. In Matthew 11: 28-30 Jesus invites all of us who are tired because of our circumstances; “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Are you tired and weary? Then accept the invitation. To begin this process one must put on the yoke of Christ, which means you will be walking side and side by Christ. Many of us are trying to do life alone and it leads to misery, frustration, and disappointment. I invite the readers of this to think about this, and make this decision today.
